Jeanne & Don's Last Hurrah

“You know how little time we have to stay,
“And, once departed, may return no more.”

Ah, my Beloved, fill the Cup that clears
Today of past Regrets and future fears....

Ah, make the most of what we yet may spend,
Before we too into the Dust descend;

Dust into Dust, and under Dust, to lie,
Sans Wine, sans Song, sans Singer, and - sans End!..

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit

Shall lure it back to cancel half a line
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.

[From the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, translated by R Burton]
In Latin America, the McGirks used to read the Rubaiyat aloud to one another

An Extraordinary Life, 7/18/1920 - 7/16/2013

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 17th in order to remember Jeanne Keeler McGirk.

We will celebrate Jeanne's long and extraordinary life with an informal wake. Kind of a send-off, with toasts and snacks. Jeanne so loved a party!

Her grandsons Sean and James are flying in for the occasion. Meet us at 3:15 pm on her back deck in Santa Cruz.  Email Tim & Jan for exact directions.

If you're not in the vicinity, please lift a glass in her memory at Happy Hour on that Saturday, wherever you are. And to Don while you're at it!)
